Embark on this half-day private tour and step into the history of the first hermitages and monks who laid the foundation for what later became the monastic community of Meteora. It is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries. Apart from the six well-known monasteries, several hermitages and small abandoned monasteries have also been restored. The six monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area.
